This is why little girls love their dads, especially at bath time. Jeff got a little carried away with the bubbles and literally covered Pearl from head to toe in them. She was squealing with delight because he kept blowing them at her. I even got a few "action" shots with bubbles flying all over the tub, but this one is my favorite. Pearl's expression is priceless!

Today I decided to drag Pearl to Tai Pan Trading for the first time and WOW!!! Why didn't I know about this place before? Well I did, but Jeff calls it a junk store so I never bothered going there - even though neither of us have ever been there before. I got this great rod iron trellis for the garden (much cheaper here than any garden store I've looked at) and 50% off of an Easter topiary that has cute eggs on it all for under $40. The place was packed with women who have more decorating and craftiness talent in one finger than in my entire body, and apparently Tai Pan is how they do it. I will definitely be back!!!

Thank Heavens Pearl has been happier today than the past few days! She even "helped" me do the dishes tonight. I didn't realize helping meant having a small flood dripping onto the kitchen floor, rug, stove, and counter top. You know it's bad when you can actually hear water dripping onto the floor from the other room and it takes two bath towels to clean up the mess!

I think our cherry tree is on it's last year of bloom, but after 70 years (we didn't believe it at first either but it's massive) I guess it's about time for it to go. The first year we lived in our house that cherry tree was absolutely gorgeous and ohhh the lovely smell from its blossoms was just yummy. Not to mention how delicious the cherries were, well the ones we got to before the birds did. Sadly, every year it keeps dying. We tried saving it about a year ago by cutting a few branches off that were pulling it to one side but I think this is the last year we will get to enjoy these beautiful blossoms.

I'm beginning to think another flat tire is a sign that I should:
a) Quit exercise all together,
b) Stop taking Pearl on walks and just get my fat butt running instead,
c) Stay at home and help Jeff build the veggie planter boxes I insisted we have in the garden,
d) Buy a new stroller or at least a new tire.
You think I would get the hint!

The weather has been so perfect that we broke out the sidewalk chalk this afternoon. It kept Pearl entertained for about 20 minutes. For some reason she loves to walk on the drawings, sit on them, and then dance around them babbling things I don't understand. She got really excited to show her dad her artwork when he got home and the next thing I knew they had drawn a big "U State" logo on the front sidewalk. Welcome summer!!!

For my birthday Jeff said he wanted me to have "my smell." Everyone has a smell you just hope yours is a good one. Back in my single days I always, always wore Bath & Body Works Creamy Coconut lotion. I liked the warm, sweet, almost baking like smell because I figured it would trick any boy into thinking I was a good cook. I'd been wearing it since high school and I seriously think my body smelled like it even on days when I didn't use it. It must have seeped into my veins or something. I relished in comments from people about how good I smelled and was always protective of letting on how I did it. Anyway, Jeff loved the warm smell so much that when Bath & Body Works stopped selling it he was more upset than I was! I remember one night when we were dating he wanted hot chocolate and finally settled on the french vanilla flavor because it smelled like me (cute, huh and yes, I still tease him about it). I found a bunch of it in NYC one year and brought home as much as I could stuff in my suitcase but we've been dry since. Now I have a good supply of it and have told Jeff it's for me only!

I took Pearl to Baby Animal Days this weekend. It was so much fun, minus the forgetting to put sunscreen on....oops! I saw this little calf who was just beautiful and so incredibly soft. He looked like he had just had a nice bath and I almost walked out of there with him in the back of our truck. But then I remembered the last time I tried to take a calf home with me and how my dad reacted to the idea. I seriously wanted a baby cow when I was 14 or 15. Someone offered to give me a calf, you know as part of the learning how to be responsible blah blah blah, but my dad said no way! I had the whole plan figured out. If my dad wouldn't let me keep it in the backyard then my grandpa had already told me I could keep it in one of his fields. And since my grandpa had hay and alfalfa on hand, we had the whole food thing taken care of. I was even excited to go out there and bottle feed the thing if need be. Which reminds me, have you ever had a calf suck on your fingers? It feels like sandpaper and is freakishly strong! Anyway, if I thought my dad's reaction was bad I knew what Jeff would have done so I left this little beauty behind. Plus, his mama was bellowing for him to come and eat. Poor thing. If you've never nursed a baby before you just don't understand how miserable she must have been after a full day of not her baby!

Technically it was tomorrow, er today, when I took this picture. Late, yes but still counts as the picture for the day. I seriously question my love of blogging when it causes me to stay up way too late, especially on those nights I try to multi-task by doing the laundry. I totally forgot about this poor load of clothes in the washer until they had sat for a few hours. Not to mention the clothes in the dryer that I knew would be all wrinkly because they too had been neglected all evening. Next time, I'll just skip the try and get ahead idea and just stick to blogging.
