Ready, set, GROW!!!

April 9, 2009
If it's too cold to plant a garden outside, then we'll grow one in the house. Jeff bought some giant pumpkin seeds tonight and planted them in an egg carton. Egg cartons must be made from different material nowadays because it sort of fell apart after we watered the seeds. Guess we'll have to transplant them tomorrow into little ceramic pots I've been saving ever since we bought our house and I refused to throw them out - they are just so cute. Pearl wasn't too impressed, probably distracted by her bowl of ice cream. Which isn't a bad thing necessarily because it kept the soil contained on the paper instead of all over the floor. If they are anything like last year's pumpkins they are going to be HUGE!

The note

April 8, 2009
Every parent dreads the note. You see, when your kid gets hurt or does the hurting there's a note posted on the board that you have to sign. Today when I picked up Pearl there were 5 notes on the board and all the kids were screaming, including Pearl. Part of me panics when I see the note (or multiple notes) because Pearl did go through a pretty harsh biting phase where I would find a note everyday on the board! No one wants their kid to be the biter. But today she was the victim of a push and shove smack into a block on the floor incident. Whew. Poor Gabby, she had two notes. My guess is that she was the victim both times because "J" (better not give his name away online) moved up from the infant to the toddler class today. "J" is a bully, always hitting, pushing, squashing, you name it. Hopefully tomorrow goes smoother. I'm not sure the kids (or parents for that matter) can survive another five-note day... that's rough!

Treat

April 7, 2009
Pearl and I stopped by Jamba Juice for a treat on our way home today.
It was warm and beautiful and a perfect day for a Jamba...reminds me of my college days getting Jambas with Becky and convincing Jeff to buy them for me. I usually have something for her to snack on, like an apple, when we drive home - it keeps the screaming to a minimum - but because I had given a presentation at USU today and didn't take my lunchbox to work, I didn't have anything on hand. Pearl really wanted to go to Costco for a treat but was ok with the "ice cream" as she called it instead. The best part about our treat was that I didn't pay a penny for it! Jeff gave me a gift certificate a few years ago and I've slowly been using it. I even have a $1.50 for next time!

Here's hoping

April 6, 2009
I sure hope barbecue sauce doesn't stain little fingers or clothes because Pearl got a big glob of it right on the front of her shirt.

Spring fever

April 5, 2009
What a beautiful day!!! The sun came out, the flowers are in bloom (well most of them), and there wasn't a hint of snow or rain in the air today! The gorgeous weather certainly helped all of us feel better and was a welcome ray of sunshine in our lives. We went to the park in between General Conference sessions, mostly to get the wiggles out since we've been stuck inside all weekend painting and watching movies and boy was it spectacular. Pearl was so excited to get out and play and I so enjoyed my walk around the block. I even stopped to get a shot of these beautiful daffodils.
I guess all the rain and snow will be worth it if this keeps up.

Coach potato

April 4, 2009
This is how Pearl spent most of Saturday... as a couch potato plopped in front of a movie. I know, I'm going to win Mom of the Year for this one but it was easier to keep Pearl entertained with a movie than screaming at her to not touch the wet paint. Poor kid. You could tell by the end of the day she was bored sick and tired of hanging out in the living room. But the painting is done and we don't have any ruined clothes from painting accidents.
