On our way home we stopped at Shoshone Falls just outside of Twin Falls. It's supposedly known as "Little Niagara" but that must be during a really wet year. The falls weren't that impressive, although the pictures they had posted around were. Pearl sure had a good time running around getting out all her wiggles and cooped up energy out before the rest of the drive home. I didn't want to admit it, but now that I have a kid my nerves are on overdrive! I especially get nervous with heights and water now that I have to try and balance letting Pearl have fun but doing so safely. I kept thinking what if she slipped or freaked out when someone was holding her and plummeted to her death? How would I save her? Geez, are all moms this paranoid?
March 20, 2009Seriously, Jeff has never been so excited in his entire life! Every year he regrets not buying tickets to the NCAA tournament and this year he finally listened to his gut (and his wife's prodding) and bought tickets to the USU vs. Marquette game in Boise. With it being only a 5 hour drive, we figured we could make a weekend out of it and experience some Aggie greatness. And oh was it a thriller... but heartbreaking. ONE STICKIN' POINT!!!
This was the only picture we got of the two of us before the game... everyone else didn't push the button hard enough to actually take a picture. The guy who took it for us kept asking us if we were married. Even after showing him my ring he still didn't believe me - maybe you should wear yours once in awhile Jeff! As flattered as I was by his comments (guess that added hairspray and lip gloss paid off), I kept thinking is he blind? After 7 blissful years, we've got to look hammered with a two-year old running circles around us, not to mention the added 20 lbs that has crept up on us. Oh well, guess we've still got it.

We made it to Boise for the big game tomorrow. Pearl never sleeps good in hotels, and consequently neither do I, and finally crashed after a long day of driving and screaming before falling asleep on top of me. I think that twirp would have stayed like that all night if she could have. As much as I love cuddling with her, it was a lot easier when she was only 6 lbs and not 30!

Jeff, give up on moving the love seat!!! Ninety-nine percent of the men on this planet could care less about how their house is decorated or how the furniture is arranged but I just happened to marry a one in a million who keeps moving my love seat back against the wall. Functionally his argument makes sense, why waste the 7 inches in the corner when you can push the love seat against the wall and maximize rest of the floor space but come on... it looks better on an angle. How long will the battle go on? Jeff moves it in the morning, I move it back, he moves it when he gets home, I move it before I go to bed and then it starts all over again. We've been going at it since we rearranged Pearl's room 3 weeks ago!!!

I've been thinking about St. Patrick's Day all weekend because 7 years ago today Jeff proposed. I've told our engagement story before but what I didn't tell anyone was that Jeff actually gave me a ring months before then... a prairie diamond that is! If you've been to Nauvoo, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. At the horse-shoeing place everyone leaves with a nail that has been bent into a ring. Well, when we got married my grandparents were serving a mission in Nauvoo and couldn't come to our wedding. So Jeff took matters into his own hands and wrote my grandpa a letter telling him he was going to marry me and that he needed him to send two prairie diamond rings until he got me my real diamond. I remember being in the kitchen when Jeff said he had a surprise for me and started to pull something out of his pocket. For a second I thought he was seriously proposing to me. But then he slipped the prairie diamond on my finger. I remember looking up puzzled and ask how on earth he was able to get one of these, the only person we knew in Nauvoo who could get one was...wait a minute! I was furious and totally embarrassed that he had told my grandparents we were getting married but it was pretty sweet of him at the same time. I wore that ring until the day I got my real diamond but still keep it in my "special box" to always remind me of being young and in love!
Oh and Jeff says I owe him $1 for every click on this post, since he was the one who actually took today's picture. Remember, I have to graduate or read the user's manual before I get to play with the new camera!

Your staring at my graduation gift... no not Jeff. A new camera!!! I am so excited to finally get a fancy-smancy camera that just might actually be fast enough to capture a smile or two on Pearl's cute face. It's a Nikon D60 complete with a whole bunch of features I have no idea what they do but they sound fabulous! Jeff even hunted around for a couple of different lenses for me. The only problem is he says I can't have it until I officially graduate (or read the entire users manual, whichever comes first). So don't expect any professional pictures too soo, I'm hoping I can sneak in a photography class with my graduation gift - that is if I ever get to play with my own camera!

Monday's lunch had better be the most delicious, made with love sandwiches Jeff has ever tasted because it was 1:45 AM when I made them! I'm insane I know...but just you all wait until I'm done with school FOREVER and can begin to function like a normal human being again.

As soon as Jeff got home from the grocery store today (yes, my husband does all the grocery shopping...I hate it), I knew we were in for at least an hour of chaos. Disorder had ruled my cupboards long enough so everything, and I mean everything, had to go! I began tossing every single thing out of our big cupboard, which subsequently lead to two other cupboards being emptied, and scattered boxes of food, cans of beans, and small appliances all over the floor, counter tops, and window sill. It was a mess but Jeff was a good sport and even reorganized the spice cupboard. I'm proud to say we know have a more organized, and hopefully more efficient, kitchen (all baking goods are now together in one cupboard and only "meal type" foods are in sight to hopefully motivate me to cook more). If anything, our newly organized cupboards make it look like we have a lot of food! Now if I could just muster up enough motivation to reorganize the rest of the kitchen.
