Two members of our household woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Within 2 hours, I had joined them. How can the day be so beautiful outside and yet everyone's grumpy, yelling, and bickering with each other inside? Pearl screamed at me when I tried to change her diaper, that sent Jeff into a bad mood, then Jeff and I started arguing about who knows what, we both went into cleaning frenzy to get rid of our pent-up frustration (on a positive note the house and yard do look nice though), Pearl and I argued so she was sent outside to bother her dad, Jeff and I argue some more, so I headed off for a nice long walk to calm down. We made it one block before getting a flat tire. After 20 minutes of trying to get the stupid pump in the right position to put air in the tire, I realized it was hopeless, we need a new tire. By this point I was boiling!!! I yanked down the crappy Walmart stroller we all have as back-ups for such occasions - you know the ones that aren't designed for anyone taller than 5' 3" - and made it to the post office before deciding Pearl's neck couldn't sustain all the jarring as she was trying to have a nap. Tomorrow I'm not getting out of bed.

Pearl and I had to run to Sandy today so we figured we might as well drive to Jeff's office and say hi. Plus Pearl was really excited to see Daddy in the middle of the day. When I asked her if she wanted to see him, she started dancing in her car seat and singing "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" We ended up going to Cafe Rio for lunch because we were all starving by the time we got our errands run. Pearl absolutely loves Cafe Rio as is evident in her thankful kiss! She could eat an entire meal herself if we let her. I don't get why she likes it so much but she always has. The beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, meat, everything gets gobbled up. We decided to go visit Daddy's friends at his office after lunch and then play hookey the rest of the day!

Anyone who can guess the exact amount of the money you see in front of you, gets it!
Ok, so there's no way I'm handing over my Hawaii fund. Jeff just got bored enough to roll all the coins, minus the pennies, in my Coke bottle bank.

Is anyone else sick of the rain, well snow? I woke up today to slush falling from the sky! It was quite the scene I'm sure as I lugged a 30 lb. squirming child, purse, lunch box, and folder into work today all while trying to avoid getting soaked in the process. Oh and did I mention that Pearl was so excited to help keep mommy from getting too wet by holding the umbrella over the two of us (technically it was more like next to us and then in front of us, everywhere but over our heads)? Not to mention the scene that ensued when the said 30 lb. child refused to give the umbrella back or fold it back up even though she couldn't get through the doors or see as she walked down the hall. She just missed taking out some one's shins with it. Let's just say Pearl had a great time playing with the umbrella and me, well, I walked into my office with frizzy, wet hair.

If you really stop and think about them, straws are a pretty incredible little tool and for kids, a fascinating one at that. I mean you can blow bubbles, spit, make music, all kinds of things with them. But the best part is that a straw can be a powerful parenting tool to get your kid to actually drink from her own cup. You see, at dinner Pearl usually refuses to drink out of her spill-proof sippy cups and often yells at us until we let her drink from our glasses or water bottles. So Jeff decided he would try giving her a straw in her own cup to keep the germ sharing to a minimum. It worked... at least through most of dinner until she started freaking out and screaming "NO" with only about an inch of juice left. I really don't get 2 year olds.

I pulled out the Easter decorations the other day in eager anticipation of my favorite time of the year and Pearl has figured out that throwing the plastic Easter eggs is more fun than keeping them in baskets. I also hung plastic eggs from our windows - my mom used to do this when I was a kid - and filled our Easter baskets with the remaining pink, yellow, green, blue, orange, and purple eggs. Much to Jeff's dismay, none of them contained any sweets. He's trying to convince me to start an Easter "egg-vant" calendar as a countdown to Easter Sunday. In the meantime, we'll continue to pick up dozens of eggs strewn all over the floor (not to mention the pink Easter grass that Pearl got to before I realized how big of a mess the staticy stringy things would make).

We (well technically Pearl but I take credit for putting 7 tiny elastics in her hair) had an excellent hair day on Sunday and it almost made it through all of church. Maybe there's a chance that Pearl will learn to love having her hair played with after all. I know I would LOVE to have someone playing with my hair everyday!
