Library

January 23, 2008
Every Friday, well almost every Friday, I take Pearl to the library. I figure it's a good break in routine and hopefully will help her learn to love reading and do well in school. Pearl seems to have more fun with the drinking fountain than she does picking out books at this age but hopefully that will change someday. Admittedly, I don't read much for pleasure anymore (unless you count graduate textbooks as pleasurable), but my favorite part of the day is reading to Pearl before bed. I try to read at least 5 stories with her every night so we go through a lot of library books.

And I didn't even fall

Girls Night Out was a rainy trip around the ice rink at the Gallivan Plaza Center in Downtown SLC. Now anyone who has seen me ice skate knows that I am about as good as a 3 year old learning how to skate for the first time. Jeff skates circles around me (it doesn't hurt that he grew up within walking distance from an outdoor ice rink) and usually has to pull me off the rink because I get stuck in the middle. But this time I didn't fall once and I actually blew right past my friend Libbey a few times (well if you think 5 mph on skates is fast). At least I got out of the house and did some socializing!

Just one more time, please!

Pearl has been sick for almost 2 weeks and the only thing that seems to make her feel better is to watch "Memo" and "Cookee" (aka Nemo and Monsters, Inc) at least 3 times EACH everyday. Is it really possible for any human being to watch these movies, while fantastic, that many times? I have no clue how this movie obsession got started or when it might end.
